About the service

Trauma-informed somatic counseling integrates mind-body awareness to heal trauma, focusing on physical sensations to gently release trapped stress responses without needing to verbally rehash events. Therapists guide clients to track bodily sensations, use “resources” (calming memories/objects), and use titration (small doses of sensation) to calm the nervous system, promoting grounding, presence, and empowering the client to process trauma safely and complete natural stress cycles for lasting healing.

What a Session Looks Like

A trauma-informed somatic counseling session blends talk with body awareness, focusing on gentle, moment-to-moment tracking of physical sensations (like breath, tension) to release stored trauma, using techniques such as grounding, titration (small doses of trauma material), and pendulation (moving between stress and safety) to rebuild inner safety and prevent overwhelm, rather than just analyzing the past. You will be guided to notice what your body feels as you talk, building a dialogue between mind and body to process experiences without re-traumatization. Sessions are intentionally designed to be safe, supportive, and deeply respectful of your mind, body, and spirit. Stephanie offers a gentle presence and attuned listening, honoring your autonomy and pace.
